This has been a long time coming.
For almost 10 years, I've been playing Minecraft. I remember when jungles were added, building my first cobblestone house, and finding my first emeralds. I've been excited for every new update and the content it brings along. I remember dragging classes into the jarfile to add mods to my game. I remember when Forge came along and made the process infinitely easier. Minecraft mods have encouraged me to pursue a career in software engineering.
Every day, new Minecraft mods are coming out. Each mod is constantly pushing the limit of what's possible in Minecraft, from simply adding larger chests to completely overhauling game mechanics. Why should you have to live without the newest mods? Why should you be forced to play an old Minecraft version, just to play a specific mod?
The original Parzi's Star Wars Mod was a mess, I'm not going to try and tell anyone otherwise. Sure, it added loosely-related Star Wars content to Minecraft, and was enjoyed by over 2 million people over its lifetime, but, from a playability standpoint, it was a mess. Even from a programming perspective, it was written by a middle-schooler. My first mod development session was a livestream where people were showing me how to use the Forge development kit. It wouldn't have done anyone any good to have the original PSWM updated to 1.8, 1.9, 1.12, or any other version other than 1.7.10. That's why it never left that version.
When PSWG was conceived, PSWM was still in development. 1.7.10 was still the "it" version for modding. PSWG was created as a testbed for new concepts to put inio PSWM, so its development wasn't made public until recently. Once PSWG spun off into its own mod and PSWM was discontinued, I made the decision that since 1.7.10 was the version I started on, 1.7.10 was the version I would stay on. With the help of the community, I've come to realize that this isn't the direction the mod should be going in.
The people have spoken.
PSWG for 1.12: coming soon to a galaxy near you.
From here, I'll be spending time to update the current PSWG content to 1.12. After the content has been updated, all future releases will stay as up-to-date as possible with the most recent Forge-compatible Minecraft release.
May the force be with you!
